I Installed Freespire 2.0.3 on HD2 two have Ubuntu 7.04 on HD one Which I use 95% of the time other than my Win98

Everything worked great with Freespire (By the way I want to make this my primary OS and would like to load it over My Ubuntu 7.04 but I do not know how to do this and save all my email and bookmarks.

When I tried to use CNR it Initialized perfect, told me I needed to upgrade, and redirected me to the the software upgrade page.

After the Upgrade I tried to download software it went through the procedure then told me that CNR Initialazation Failed.

What Do I do now??

Thanks,

Arthur

Understand that Freespire 2.0.3 is installed on the system, but what version of the CNR Client is installed? Have you tried this???

Thank you Dr. Jones for your quick and courtious reply

YES I tried the update link you suggested before I wrote the post, and it will not work. The CNR just rotates and quits. When I check my download file it just shows "file".cnr i.e NVU.CNR when I click open CNR just rotates on my screen and quits. Will not load the install. Thanks again for your response.

Pls. try Exiting CNR, deleting the packages file in /var/lib/cnr/client, then install a product from CNR.com...

Since you are re-installing the OS, try installing 2.0.8 which has the newer client in it.

As per Dr Jones suggestion. Get Freespire 2.0.8

Since I was the one who started this thread I had the very same problem until I upgraded to 2.0.8 and now CNR works perfectly.

Hope this helps.

I am having the very same problem with the same results. I have an IBM Thinkpad T42. For years I've worked with Windows and recenty have wanted to try Linux. I've tried many distros and none of them with properly load and recognize the wireless card in this laptop. When I read the Freespire had solved this problem with their latest distro I could hardly wait to burn an iso and load it up. Wouldn't you know, the wireless worked first try. I was amazed. I thought I was on my way to conversion. Then it happened. CNR will not work as it should. I've done everything that everyone else here has tried. I thought I could benefit from those ahead of me with the same problems. Well, it looks like we all still have the same problem. I have the latest version of Freespire and the latest download and upgrade of CNR. However, it will not initialize and download and install anything. In snooping around I see several files in the temp directory. I assume that something may be downloading there. When I start the browser and go to Preferences to change the assosiation for CNR, CNR is no where to be found. I've loaded and reloaded Freespire several times and have the same problems each time.

Obviously either I'm doing something wrong or there is a bug. I am new to linux and Freespire but not computers. I've been working with them very closely since about 1984. So this is very frustrating to me. I have enjoyed working with linux and particularly Freespire, but I can't continue to punish myself day in and day out. I'd like nothing more that to leave MS behind and venture into new things, but.....

I do a lot of desktop publishing and need to install Scribus to start with. Any help would be most appreciated.

Hsmith

Unfortunately the "new" client that was posted on October 16th, 2008
has an expiration date of May 6th, 1995. I have e-mailed the webmaster.
(webmaster at cnr dot com) with no response. If you want to check it
yourself run Sun Java 6 Web Start (in the internet folder of the run
programs list). And a window for the Java cache viewer will pop-up, and
you should see what I am talking about. Please e-mail the webmaster if
you are having this problem I figure if enough of us e-mail him with
the information the webmaster may actually do something.
