Has CNR been dumpped in the bin like Linspire

I have recently decided to get back into Linux as my daughter's laptop, which was running Linspire 5 eventually died. I bought her a new one and now find that Linspire has been shelved and my login to their site either suspended or locked. Request for a new password is inactive and the forum appears dead.

My account to CNR appears to have gone and have created a new one with the same details as before, which sugests that my account was not migrated to CNR anyway. Requests for assistance on the CNR support tells me that my support ticket has been submitted but I have done that 3 times now and they never appear in my support and never receive e-mails. My login to support shows I am logged in as NULL. There are loads of other peoples requests for support which are unanswered. Telephone lines to Linspire are unanswered and the mail boxes are unable to take messages as they are all full

Does anyone know what is happening? Have Xandrosa also dumpped CNR? Have Xandrosa bought Linspire and with it CNR just to close the doors?

Is there no one about to answer the questions or am I shouting into an empty warehouse?

JDoyle: though CNR cannot do an automatic update on itself, I just logged in to CNR and came here. I cannot speak to the original questioner's comments regarding xandros position on anything.

Looks like CNR has gone belly up like Linspire.

With a question like this you would have thought one of the CNR team would have jumpped in and put our minds to rest.

Linspire have served us well xandros come along and buy up Linspire for no apparent reason then close it down. So Michael gets his money out and the customers are dumpped. Sounds like a typical asset stripping excercise or a move to close down a company who are competators. Microsoft are past masters at this!

CNR Support does not work and no one replies to any messages on the forum.

Looks like Ubuntu is the way forward. The Linux world have seen the potential profits, taken the hard work of the masses to develop the systems and software and now profit from it. And all this is pemitted under the GNU licence.

The support pages are there but log in and try them - they don't work.

Create a ticket and then look at your own tickets and all you see are other peoples. Then look on the right you will find you are logged in as Null and not your own profile which suggests to me it is not working.

I may be wrong but having tried for the past 2 weeks to get some sense out of this and no reply at the linspire offices and articles on the web - www.freespire.com - about Robinson being sued by the shareholders because he and his father-in-law may have been bad at business or imbezelled the sharholders money before selling his majority share of Linspire........

You are experiencing an anomaly that has existed since the current
support system was migrated in April 2007. If your email address is
associated with 2 usernames this error occurs on the second account
(the first account functions properly). If you recall the original
account username and password try that, or submit the request through
the Sign-in issues form...

I have done what you said 3 times now and have not received an e-mail with a ticket number so can only assume that CNR is dead.

I have tried phoning their offices but no one answers and all the answer phones are full. I can only assume that Xandros have shut CNR down just like Linspire.

If CNR is still alive and kicking why have none of their staff either deleted this thread or answered it?

I suspect that CNR is simply continuing on auto-piolet with no one behind the screens.....

It is very strange that Xandros have done nothing and painful not being able to get some sort of response from anyone in authority or employment with the company.

Apologies. I solved my Ubuntu 8.04.1 apt update error with help from an Ubuntu forum specialist and continue to
run the OS... cannot speak to cnr, except that purchased cnr beta when using FS or
LSpire 5.1.47, 5.0.69 and 6.0.17. after experiencing anger from Linspire forum contributors but needing an OS that would give the ability to proceed w/o delays I copied what data files I needed and wrote Ubuntu over OSs that kept going bonkers for unknown reasons. understand I was born in the 30s and do not see a single benefit to be gained in broil, especially one that uses fabrications and anger as their pretense.

is interesting to me that the CNR icon on my desktop was
removed in an unknown step. perhaps that happened when I did certain ubuntu updates. I needed the updates, did them and removed a sudo command in the source list.

frankly, if you want action from Xandros's CEO I urge that a group formulate a proposal and get it to Mr. Little the V. Pres of Xandros for Linspire, FS and CNR operations with a copy to the CEO, noting that CEO's spies monitor help Forums; but, I do not believe forum discussions are the most effective way to get a group's position across to decision makers,

Further, note after Kevin Carmondy former LS CEO palled with Bill Gates, Gates became a member of linux help forums. I believe you'll find his name in the membership files for Linspire forums. I have no knowledge about the real intentions Xandros and do not care as I'm a man of limited means and one who wants simply to do my work and aid impoverished humans needing what linux can give them. when I wrote the CEO of Xandros directly, he did not answer my correspondence nor have I seen an indication he is genuinely in favor of the hard work that developers and users generally have contributed to.

Note: whereas I live in Central Texas I know what happened here once I (and others) challenged Michael Dell CEO of Dell Computers, which has its headquarters less than 15 miles from my place. Mr. Dell began to pay his employees full 40 hour weeks (meaning they'd get benefits) and lo and behold today there is a Dell's Children's Hospital in Austin and other contributions/scholarships to other local communities, Dell is selling PCs and Laptops with Ubuntu in Europe and in six Walmart locations... Sounds like the writing on the walls has been like a finger in a hole in the dike that stopped a dam from being destroyed.

Keep up the struggle but understand, I'm not about to be gored by anger mongers who use scape goating, hate or plain lies to promote their vendettas; don't understand, visit the linspire/freespire forums don't have time for divisiveness as life it too short. Relative to Bill Gates, we all see that activists like me caused him to
form the Gates Foundation which has successfully combatted diseases
hurting African youth.

Had a reply from Dean at cnr at tickets dot xandros dot com stating my account is there and working but will investigate..... He also confirmed I am shown as Gold Member... Strange as I don't have any purchase history or favourite programes.

Had another reply from Dean and it now looks like my account is fixed so have access to all my paid for programs. Took some time though.....!

Xandros :-)

CNR is not dead. The CNR team has been working on Eeedownload.asus.com since the buy out. Then they were tasked to work on presto.cnr.com.

More recently we are working on atomic packaging support as well as improving the infrastructure to support more sites and users.

I know cnr.com has been neglected a bit and we are working on that.

Thanks, Big Dawg for responding to my post. I bought Win4lin on 5-28-09 and haven't been able to install it. Your help links say "UNABLE TO CONNECT"

The phone no. from your email has been disconnected, the diagnostic report has never answered me. I don't know where to go for help.

The fulfill.seam was downloaded to my desktop instead of to my purchase history in my CNR account. I got the email ok with the activation code.
