Attempting to reload the GiMP with CNR, I received the following error message:
      1. Installation status for GIMP: Failed to calculate dependencies

I ran apt-get update/upgrade from the shell, but it changed nothing.

Which distribution were you installing it on? We had an issue with the Asus 1.6 distro but that got resolved today I believe. Let me know if its still a problem and we will look into it.

Please don't try to hijack this thread, Dave -- it's not about Firefox, it's about the GiMP.

When I had this problem, it was because I was using an Alpha release of my Linux platform.

When I loaded the STABLE release, this problem, among many others, disappeared, and have not returned, so far!

I'm having the same problem -- since CNR blew up, I tried apt-get as recommended on the GIMP.ORG website:

:~# apt-get install gimp
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
gimp: Depends: gimp-data (= 2.2.13-1ubuntu4.3) but 2.2.13-1.0.0.50.linspire0.1 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

ok , I think I found the solution

DO NOT DO THIS -- READ BELOW

lioninoil - Right click the CNR icon in your task bar, click LAUNCH CNR CLIENT

in the client, click CONFIGURATION at the top

Click DIST. SELECTOR on the left

click Linspire 6.0 Stable on the right

click Apply - wait for CNR to sync

try installing GIMP again.

Apparently the latest CNR Client update that I did a while back changed my default distro to linspire 5 which blows up stuff.

HERE IS WHY

ok, so after doing that, and letting the linspire CNR updates run, I restarted my system and it didn't want to start up again (boo!)

An hour and a half later, I had partitioned my drive and reinstalled Linspire 6.0.15 on the new partition so I wouldn't lose my data.

Another hour of struggling later on - CNR won't download anything, keeps going back to the stupid "Upgrade your client" page when I already have the latest version.

It's now 18 hours later, still can't get the stupid thing to work and am ready to give up on Linspire all together after more than 5 years.

Over the years I've purchased quite a few linspire ready laptops and a bunch of CNR premium memberships and software, and it's a bigger struggle to get this up and running than it is a Windows Vista system.

Maybe one day the Linspire team will drop freespire and focus on Linspire and it's CNR once again. I'm going to mess around with the laptop for another little bit, but this is a business system, either it starts working or it's out the door. If anyone can offer any help, that'd be appreciated.

If you want to suggest a better distro that uses a system similar to CNR, that would also be greatly appreciated.
