How can the source of a file be ascertained, as I think I have only downloaded software?
This weekend I upgraded Linspire 5.0 to Freespire 2.0.3 to continue my CNR access. After downloading a few programs I ran the freshly downloaded "Aegis Virus Scan" and learned: v29n50.sys contains the W32/Netsky.c@MM virus.
This w29n50.sys file is referenced in four files:
ndiswrappers-drivers.list var/lib/dpkg/info
ndiswrappers-drivers.md5sums var/lib/dpkg/info
w29n50.inf etc/ndiswrapper/w29n51/
w29n50.inf lib/windrivers/
It would be nice to know where it came from. It is a bit of a shock, this early.
