Ubuntu 8.04 - "Error writing to database"

I'm running fully updated (as of 5/8/08 3:00PM EST) Ubuntu 8.04. CNR
starts initializing, then starts synchronizing, after synchronization,
an error pops up that says, "Initialization status: Error writing
database"

Checking the log at /var/log/cnr.log has the following information:

05/08 14:52:54.797|../src/lib/common/System/Distribution.cpp|324|Action|Starting package update
05/08 14:53:43.687|../src/lib/common/System/Distribution.cpp|324|Action|Starting package update
05/08 14:56:11.869|../src/lib/common/System/Distribution.cpp|324|Action|Starting package update
05/08 14:58:42.485|../src/lib/common/System/Distribution.cpp|324|Action|Starting package update
05/08 14:59:51.921|../src/lib/common/System/Distribution.cpp|324|Action|Starting package update

Just as another note, I have tried running CNR from the command line as
both a regular user, and through sudo, both yield the same result.

Oh yes, one more important thing, running "cnr --version" from the command line produces the following:

DebugnetworkState up
DebugSetting up dbus Adaptor
timer: 1440WarningQSqlDatabase: QSQLITE driver not loaded
WarningQSqlDatabase: available drivers:
WarningCould not parse stylesheet of widget 0x821e570
WarningQSqlDatabase: QSQLITE driver not loaded
WarningQSqlDatabase: available drivers:
CNR: Starting the next action..
>>>>>>>>>>>>ActionThread is setting progress dlg
CNR Client version 0.2.3848-0cnr1~hardy1

Attached is the compressed result of running "cnr >> cnr-output.txt" from the command line.

Alright - Installing qt4-dev-tools fixes the database error which means there is a package dependancy issue that needs to be fixed.... not that I can actually install anything - I keep getting "This product is not available for your distribution" errors.

Interesting, just successfully installed the Client Live on 8.04 and installed a product w/o issue. Did you use Gdebi to install the CNR Client?

Just successfully installed the CNR Client on a multi-boot of 8.04 w/o issues. Sure the issue hasn't been resolved???

Well, I wouldn't quite say "blindly" - I'm a desktop user, not a server admin so i have less to worry about, and generally speaking, my OS is always kept up-to-date. :)

This is to confirm that the solution works. I am running into the same
issue with Kubuntu 8.04, and have been having this problem since
updating from 7.10 (and, obviously, reinstalling the latest CNR). I did download the batch of patches that were just release, and this had no effect on the problem. Installing qt4-dev-tools successfully resolved the problem.

As for why some users are having problems with this, and some aren't, the only thing I can suggest is perhaps it is a result of the OS upgrade being done as an upgrade, rather than as a clean install? (It sounded like Xarius went the upgrade path as well; not sure about Dr. Jones.) Not sure. All I know is, I was having the exact same issue, and the exact same fix worked for me.

I did a clean install (initial testing was running 8.04 Live) and had no issues installing or running the CNR Client, but will investigate this solution...

I did a clean install of 8.04 and then updated the packages installed on the system.

I didn't upgrade from a previous Ubuntu release to 8.04.

Strange, just installed all the 69 updates (after installing the CNR Client) and all is still operational (successfully installed a package using the CNR Client). Will investigate further...

CNR depends on libqt4-sql-sqlite and the CNR client package doesn't properly specify that, apparently. qt4-dev-tools just happens to depend on it, as well. So people suggesting that as a fix are sorta correct. However, the real solution is to install libqt4-sql-sqlite. (And for CNR to fix their client dependencies.)

I managed to install SuperTux... (How exciting...lol)

When will: Acrobat Reader, StarOffice, LinDVD, CrossOver Office, Bitstream Fonts, etc. be available? Using CNR is utterly pointless if I dont have access to my commercial software - thats CNR's strength...
