I would like ti install an Epson Perfection 1260 photo scanner in Linspire 6. There doesn't appear to be anything in the CNR to facilitate this. Where haven't I looked?

I installed the listed files and modified the epson.conf file to enable usb/dev/usb/scanner0 as was required under 5.2 but the scanner still isn't recognized. Have I missed something?

After my previous post I swirched from my user account to root. Scanner is recognized in root and works just fine. However the program tells me I'm nuts to run it in root. However when I'm in user CNR won't allow me to download xsane or install some upgrade. Message is something about permissions. I always ran 5.2 in root and never bothered usung a user setup so Linspire version 6 is a bit of a learning experience. I gather I need some sort of access to root from my user page as with the file manager and setting the monitor resolution.

BTW lsusb identified the scanner along with other devices.
