Have a pile up. I erred by trying to install a printer and downloaded the new 3-14-08 version of OO without clearing up
  • I installed the newest OO in CNR on 3-22-08 while the OO 2.2 needed mending. I mean, I can not close a hanging file containing solely a cut and paste of instructions found on drivers from the Ubuntu Forum. Has nothing to do with printer modification in the OO rather a failure to get down to the Start Recovery button at the bottom of the Notice given by the OO, which now comes up as frozen. CNR did not find & replace the old OO; did not delete it; and Konquerer Find cannot locate the new OO download. Old OO is not working.
  • True I erred by labeling my problem on the linspire forum as needing dell aio 942 when in fact I have a dell aio 922; is feasible this is an early sign of temp brain mysfunction. But it is not the printer that I need to keep working. It is the OO.

I believe the first solution is to get help from the OO forum or to click on the OO Start Recovery button, which I cannot see because the file is too bulky
  • By unpinning this in the OO, it should then be possible to work within the OO to unravel the printer issue. Until it is feasible to get inside OO, I fear the printer guts issue will not be approachable.

Argue with me so I understand how to proceed. I have instructions from DrHu, but I believe the initial problem is inside the OO, then to unravel the issue about uninstalling the printer associated with the OO that is frozen. The freeze up occurred immediately after a cut and paste inside the OO that would not save.
Thanks. Kenneth

In a konsole (terminal) run:

mv ~/.openoffice.org2 ~/.openoffice.org2_backup

Restart your system

JD, that solved the issue on the OO pile up. Can I do something like this to delete the dell aio 922 and/or 942 printer and get free so I can run the wizard. Or, does the OO solution you gave me solve both issues. Or, has the new beta OO that I installed on 3-21-08 now ready to operate?

You can remove the printer from the Add Printer Wizard. The Printer drop down menu, select Remove.

How did you install the newer OOo?

came back to haunt me again... forgot to look on this forum and been hitting head against the wall for weeks... Tonight I found the correction but I cannot get it to run. This is what i get in konsole terminal. I find no way to do a "run". when I do a return, you see in the second line what I get... What must be done.

root@Freespire:~# mv ~/.openoffice.org2 ~/.openoffice.org2_backuprun
root@Freespire:~# mv ~/.openoffice.org2 ~/.openoffice.org2_backup
mv: cannot stat `/root/.openoffice.org2': No such file or directory

I tried all variations to solve this. And, I had not seen the method for removing the printer so I did not have the pleasure since your post back in March.

Wonder why the forums on CNRr and those on freespire and linspire are not networked or at least listed together. I even thought of going to my doctor to see if I had alzheimers. Been making all type posts in case someone knew this location.

JD, I finally solved the riddle on the repeat. can't detail solution but the OO complication faded once I got the docs to save; still have no printer.

This is a multi-distribution forum for CNR.com software installation system, and the Forums are designed to support specific distributions (Freespire and Linspire only)...

Dr J.

Yes the OO ? got solved but the CNR affects on my new Mirus PC w/Freespire appears to have caused it to be set aside.

For weeks I've used this old clone emachine with WinXP to do my work. You may see elsewhere in the Freespire/Lin Forum

I detail in a request for assistance problems associated with what i believe to be CNRs beta/debian conflict. Was to much to solve

so I furloughed my 2nd new Linspire/Freespire OS on a PC (my 1st an AMD 741GX-M with a Lin 5.1.147 OS which failed to run on ATT HighSpeed) until better times; in my estimation that is horrible but I didn't have the time or an experienced gofer to work through the ?s that arose when I used a wizard to reset the sound and suddenly found myself in a

reconfig which I presume affect the network status; don't know; can't take the time for it; desperately need the new PC but I can

not do without the files. Revhouse and StanTheMan recommended an OS reinstall; due to urgent work that cannot be put aside

I am not ready to do a partition and OS install. Yeah, this post is proper as two PCs set aside amounts to a pile up.

After a fairly thorough review of posts on the Freespire/Linspire forum, I believe had the CNR not been in Corporate rebuild status,

I feel the sound issue on my Mirus would have corrected itself when with a CNR download. Sure a V President was in Austin where

I liveto announce great things and praise the fact the new CNR could be bought for $35, but my down times and machine difficulties

arose at the wrong times. Gotta get off here as i cannot spend more time or give a heads either one till I bring the new PCs out of

mothballs. Peace.
