Have a clean install of Ubuntu 7.10 (downloaded yesterday) on a AMD skt A Athlon XP 2600+ with 1GB RAM with 128MB Nvidia video - all seems to run ok

following instructions from CNR.com

Using the Download page:

1. Open a browser (Firefox)
2. Download CNR Client page
3. Select Download Now for Ubuntu
4. Opening cnr-client dialog box is presented
5. Ensure Open with: GDebi Package Installer (default) is selected
6. Downloads dialog box is presented (ignore)
7. Package Installer: cnr-client dialog box is presented
8. Select Install Package (will download and install additional packages dependencies as required)

Step 8. fails - ´Install Package´ button is greyed out

Error:Dependency is not satisfiable: libqt4-core

so how do I fix this, step by step please, I not that familiar with command line stuff (most instructions seem to assume all users have a knowledge of it)

Did you follow these instructions?

This should be pretty much step by step.

You could also try installing libqt4 first, then see if it will install.

yep, followed those instructions precisely, except as I said step 8 failed as the option was 'greyed' out.

This may be unrelated to CNR, but prior to trying to install CNR client I had functioning network connections - I have no network connection at all in Ubunto 7.10 (which is now using 8139too) - my router & eth0 refuse to light up that connection.

Ubunto 7.10 did initially have a connection cause I downloaded the CNR client, but after trying to install it, and getting the 'fail' message, I have no connection - if I boot into XP the connection is fine, as is with Vista , and Kubuntu 7.10 KDE 4.0 (run from CD).

Now Mandriva 2007 install seems broken as well - gets to the boot screen and stops...(that's a shame, I had that setup nicely) - it booted fine after installing Ubuntu 7.1, but not now.

Router is Billion 743GE 4 port/wireless; older unit, but reliable (I can only get a 1.5MB connection anyhow);
LAN 1 for my ATA (phone), light was always on
LAN3 for the AMD SktA , light was always on
LAN4 for my new AMD AM2+, light was always on

but now only LAN1 & 4 are lit when PCs are off (power on, but PC off), LAN3 only lights up when XP/Vista/Kubuntu(CD) is booted on AMD SktA

Now that my mainwork unit is AMD AM2+; the AMD SktA is now my OS test unit, even though it's not system critical, something has still gone haywire ??

Think I'll have to remove some drives and do a clean install on one - 2 ide & 2 sata, with too many partitions now to make sense of what's what... ?-)

so weird; I just booted into Vista, did some updates and shut down..LAN3 is now lit up, so rebooted to Ubuntu 7.10 and I now have network connection, so will see what I can do

I just double clicked the CNR installer and it requested the Gutsy Gibbon CD and then installed 14 dependencies (incl libqt4-core)

Now the CNR client works, and I've just logged in.

thanks for help....but the network problem sure was weird ???
