I am also having a problem with cnr, I just installed freespire. I came over from ubuntu 7.10. cnr intializes and i can get to the find software page but when i choose a program to install and click the link, the icon says installing, but i cant find the program no where on the computer. I have tried running it from the terminal, all i get is not found. This is my first kde experiance, and i really dont know what to do. Any help would be appreciated. I also have already upgraded the client.

I had the same problem and i got it fixed by deleteing all files in /var/lib/cnr/client/ and then going to the CNR update link and rerunning the update.

Pls. provide the version of Freespire (latest 2.0.8) and the CNR Client build # (latest 0.2.3201) installed on the machine...

I have ver 2.0.3 of freespire and 0.2.3201 of the CNR client but can't get cnr to initialise. The first click on the icon runs a while then a message box says "Initialization failed" but the CNR icon appears in the system tray. Clicking this launches Firefox into cnr.com with a selection of software which cannot be installed. I've tried deleting files, downloading and installing .3201 AND .3202 and then .3201 again all to no avail. On another discusion I found something that has worked for me.

+For someone to use CNR from their user account, they must (1) enter
file manager in super user mode, (2) open a terminal, but only within
super user mode (typing sudo will not work), (3) type cnr within that
terminal within super user mode.+

CNR then synchronised with cnr.com and asked me if I wanted to update 157 files, which I said yes to. As this is still running I'm not sure if it solved the first problem but it would appear that running in super user mode works. So, something to do with permissions??

Good luck everyone, Kim.

Sounds like it's working now but I wonder why only from a root shell?

Somethings certainly not right.

Is that error message coming from the CNR Client or the browser??? When the Install Now button is selected a small file is downloaded that must be associated with the CNR Client to complete the download and installation process...

If you are using Firefox, you need to let it know what to do with the .cnr file.

Edit>>Preferences, Contern tab>>File Types, Manage.

i did the "apt-cache policy cnr-client" at the command prompt and got the following reply.

W: Couldn't stat source package list http://apt.freespire.org marlin/live-freespire/sid-non-free-rev2/live-freespire Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/apt.freespire.org_dists_marlin_live-freespire_sid-non-free-rev2_live-freespire_binary-i386_Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory)

My cnr give me the following message: " We're sorry. CNR is currently unable to contact the Linspire servers." for the past week or so.

The legacy CNR Warehouse for Freespire 1.0 is no longer in service. Is Freespire 2.0 an option???

i originally had installed 2.08, but the cnr would not work, so i tried the earlier version, which worked well for me. i guess i will install the latest version if that is what the problem is. I can't do it until next week, so I guess I will have to live with it until then.

There are been a couple significant enhancements to CNR (release of the latest CNR Client and stability improvements to the web site) that might resolve the issues you previously experienced with CNR.com. Give it another try...
