I am fairly new to linux, have played with various distributions over the years and was very interested when a friend showed me freespire. I downloaded freespire and loaded it on a box that I had and was really enjoying the experience.

Over the weekend I was working with my freespire box, went to CNR and found the vs of freespire I had was no longer supported. I downloaded the newest version of freespire that I could find ( 2.0.8) and installed it. Since then about 65% of the time I get the message that this is not available for your distribution.

Have I done something wrong?

OS Version Freespire 2.0.8

I get this error as well. Running Linspire 6.0.15, assuming latest client (how to I check? there was an update). I tired to install these from Purchase Histroy:

Bitstream Deluxe Fonts
DH Lore Invasion

Hancom Sheet 2.0
Progression Desktop
The Best of Deviant ART Contest Vol. 1

From the console command prompt:
Laptop:~$ apt-cache policy cnr-client
cnr-client:
Installed: 0.2.3690-0cnr1~feistyskipjack1

Dr. Jones,

First thank you for your assistance.

As I am fairly new to freespire I am guessing you want me to install a package using sudo apt-get install packagename.

I am trying to identify a package name to install but because the name of the package is not displayed on CNR I am having trouble identifying a package to install. One of the programs that is giving me trouble is titled DVD Creation Wizard (Tovid). I have tried to run sudo apt-get install tovid and got a package not found message. I will continue trying to identify a package that produces the same error code but displays the package name.

In addition there was more output that I did not paste in the error message that was posted, it was lengthy and would probably be better sent through email.

Here is the result from another package:

~$ sudo apt-get install webmin-apache
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package webmin-apache is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package webmin-apache has no installation candidate

Sorry, Not required. Just run cnr from the console command prompt, then select the Install Now button from the CNR.com web site and the console will capture the download & installation process (and any error messaging). Hope this clarifies...

Dr. Jones,

I ran CNR from command prompt, browser window opens, selected package and got same result (Application not available for your distribution).

I am curious about something that may resolve the situation. As I said I am running Freespire 2.x, I installed this version because of a message I got when I went to CNR that read something like your version is no longer supported. I am wondering if the version that referred to was the version of CNR or the OS version of Freespire. If the problem was my CNR version then I should be able to reinstall Freespire 1.x and install the latest CNR version and everything should work.

Never mind! It appears that the packages I want are just not available for Freespire 2.x
