That last line gives the impression there are Internet connection issues (can't access the server). This is what I just got:
Laptop:~$ cnr
timer: 1440Debugrows in installed package model 1217
Warning" "
DebugCreating InstallComplete
DebugdistSnapVersion: 0
DebugDoing full parse
DebugDownloading: http://packages.cnr.com/data/dist-snap-index/dist-arch/3/index-3-19.xml.gz to /tmp//qt_temp.TJ8595
DebugUncompressing: /tmp//qt_temp.TJ8595 to /tmp//qt_temp.XM8595
Debugadding Products
DebugStarting automatic update...

Could you have connection issues (did this occur when you posted or earlier)???

That doesn't work. Since I use Ubuntu, I don't have the files indicated in those instructions.

I had the same problem until yesterday - today cnr client initializes and contacts the server, then it suggests to update some 122 packages, I klick yes, the update starts and downloads one package after the other, but each update eventually fails when the automatically downloaded files are installed. I tried both "root"-user and my own user account - it is the same.

I don't have exactly the same problem but CNR tells me "CNR could not identify your distribution" and it will refuse to install any software claiming it is not available for your distribution. I am running Kubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon and tried to install CNR yesterday. If I type cnr in a konsole I get:

DebugnetworkState up

A small thing though: At boot CNR tries to contact cnr."something" and it fails since my wifi is not up yet. Wifi comes up about 5-10 seconds later. Could that be an issue?

Also I can not see any program inside the "Manage software" in the CNR client.

Since Dr. Jones is around here, I expect only perfect and prompt solutions :~)

CNR must be connected to the servers to initialize correctly (Manage Software requires an initial initialization to compare the packages on the system with the packages in the repository - determining updates), so if the CNR icon in the system tray is not green, then it's not connected. Developers are resolving this deficiency (check for connection), but in the interim right-click and select Exit, then restart CNR and all should be GTG...

As usual you were right. Just exiting cnr and starting it up after wifi was connected solved the problem. I just thought that it would (re)connect when I clicked on apply in the cnr client. Perhap I'm too optimistic.

Is there an easy way to delay the startup or get it to wait until wifi is connected?

Very realistic expectation (in fact just successfully tested the next build that has that fix)...

Nope, but until the fix is imported you'll have to Exit then restart once the network connection is up...
