Hello, I'm brand new to the Freespire/Linspire community. I've been using Xandros 3.0 as the main OS on my home PC for years and have basically liked it, but am frustrated with a few areas so decided to give Freespire a go. Just installed it tonight, and so far so good.

However, I've installed something from CNR.com and can't figure out how to uninstall it. Searching the knowledgebase and forum, the results seem to indicate that I should see some sort of "uninstall" option next to software programs that I've installed, but this does not seem to be the case. Also, I don't seem to be able to run any sort of "CNR" application: when I click the CNR icon, it just takes me to CNR.com, where it appears I can install programs (which is what I did), but not uninstall. When I locate the program I want to uninstall in CNR.com, it just has the "Install" option as if I've not installed it.

BTW, the reason I want to uninstall something is to troubleshoot a different problem: I'm trying to get my Epson Stylus Photo RX620 multifunction machine to work. It works fine as a printer in Freespire, but I haven't been able to get it to recognize the scanner. A knowledgebase document suggested I should uninstall both Kooka and Xsane (both of which I just installed from CNR), unplug the unit's USB cable, reboot, reinstall Kooka, then plug in the scanner's USB cable. But I can't figure out how to uninstall those programs.

Any help with either issue would be much appreciated.

Ok, nevermind. I figured it out.

First I managed to do the said uninstalls through dpkg. I had never used that before (in Xandros I'd always used Xandros Networks, which is a CNR-like thing), but I figured it out.

Then I figured out that if I right-click on the CNR icon in the systray (or whatever you call it in Linux), if I select "Configure" CNR, then there is an area where it lists the installed packages and has an uninstall option. Probably could use some more obvious documentation, but I've resolved the issue as far as uninstalling programs.

Still can't get the scanner to work, though. But that's a topic for another thread.

Yes, right-click the green CNR icon in the system tray and select Launch CNR and the options are under Manage Software (Update & Uninstall for example). Sorry for any confusion...

The subject could have been "Uninstall not apparently available". If not for this post I may never have found it. I guess I'm a little slow - I did just finally made the move to 6.0. :)
