cnr update and ubuntu

I have noticed that packages installed via cnr also are updateable via ubuntus standard update. So the question is if it is safe to update these packages when reported by ubuntu - or will there be a risk of programs installed via cnr depending on this package not working properly any more?

Installing most packages via the default ubuntu repositories will produce an equivalent result to installing via CNR (there's more packages available in the CNR repositories). There has been no reported problems installing using CNR and the native ubuntu package manager...
