I have new install of Freespire and I am trying to run CNR, but it is not working. I ran it for the first time, it syncrinizec fine, it brought the cnr page , but when I tried to install a program it the system icon dispareed from the tray and now wheneveer I try to install a program via cnr it doesn't work and cnr doesn't load. If I try to manually start cnr it doesn't start. It does not give me any visible errors.

Try the follwoing:

  1. Right-click the green CNR icon in the system tray: Exit
  2. Open Computer
  3. Browse Up to the root directory, then /var/lib/cnr/client
  4. Delete the file:# packages
    • Note: should be about 4.5+ MB in size
  5. Restart CNR
This process will download a new index that should allow you to update to the latest CNR client...

I have the same issue. I deleted the packages file, ran CNR and all I get is INITIALIZATION FAILED.

Packages file is recreated again but it is not possible to install anything.

I'm having the same issue, with the same versions - a fresh install of Freespire 2.0.3 and CNR Client version 7.0.0. FYI, my /var/lib/cnr/client/packages file is 159744 bytes, not 4.5M as you said it should be in an earlier post. CNR appears to fail quietly, as there are no new messages in /var/log/message. The /usr/bin/cnr help message mentions a <document-file.cnr> argument, but "sudo updatedb; locate cnr" shows no file anywhere on my system with a .cnr ending.

Is there anything I can try to further diagnose the problem?

Also, I recall that when I first installed the new client the signature wasn't recognized.

At the bottom of the sources.list Additional Sources provides the following:
From the console:
sudo apt-get install freespire-archive-keyring

sudo apt-get update

However, I haven't done an apt-get update & upgrade since fresh install a couple of days ago. Will do so and let you know tomorrow if it has any effect on the problem with the CNR client.

You still have an older version of the client and need to update to the latest version for complete functionality. Have you tried the CNR Manual Upgrade instructions using apt???

Apologies for the delay...

FYI, Still have same problem with CNR client after full system upgrade using "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade".
