Request big picture feedback for the CNR.com site and the CNR Client (that supports Freespire 2.0, Linspire 6.0 and ubuntu 7.04 & 7.10). Specific issues should be directed to the CNR.com or CNR Client communities...

I first had the opportunity to use cnr when I bought my medion digitainer with linspire pre-installed. I really liked it and I have been wishing to use the software on my other computers. I've got Kubuntu on my notebook and now I can keep it up to date using the new cnr client for Ubuntu 7.10.

"Pardus" a very new distribution being developed in Turkey, is the os that I prefer for my third computer. I am looking forward to having a client for "pardus" one day, because it is a widely prefered distro not only in Turkey, but also in many countries.

Anyway, thanks everyone for the ubuntu client.

Tried to install cnr client on Kubuntu 7.04 and Gdebi gives me an error "Dependency is not satisfiable: libqt4-core"
which is kinda weird as libqt4-core is installed any idea what its
complaining about. There is no option to satisfy the dependency.

This is a pity as I was really interested in the concept and wanted to try it out http://community.cnr.com/images/emoticons/sad.gif

I installed it on Ubuntu 7.10, and it is terribly slow. I installed ksuduko, and it took over 20 minutes, and this is on a P4 system with 2 gigs of RAM.

Just curious what other process were running that could be RAM intensive?

Well I had wondered the same thing, and since it had been a few days since I've rebooted, I shutdown the computer, restarted it, and tried it again with a different program. Tuxpuck took about 15 minutes to install. I tried installing Eternal Lands, but it never did anything. I waited for about an hour, tried it again, and still nothing.

Thank You for the feedback, and have passed this on to the developers for investigation...

Today I installed Pioneer Explorer 1.2.0.9 (based on Gutsy). I installed the cnr-cliet with apt after adding the necessary repos to /etc/apt/sources.list. I find it to be much faster initializing and installing that with Freepire. All 6 apps installed without issue, and very quickly (compared to freespire).

Congrats with the beta launch! ...although many of the web pages still state "Alpha".

But CNR.com has some way to go before it's useful. Right now the web page is unresponsive and slow. One get the feeling something has crashed, but suddenly, after a long time, it comes back. Not good! But looks promising - once you get things worked out. :)

I am running CNR on Gutsy with no real problems. However, my hope for this service is legal availability of mutimedia codecs and so forth. The rest of the free software I can already manage with apt and synaptic etc etc. There are some useful looking commercial offerings but I was mostly interested in multimedia since that is the biggest drawback for the average user of Linux at this point. Everything else can be done as well or better with FOSS.

Thanks.

Is there a particular codec of interest, or just looking for a meta package with all the codecs???
