Resolving CNR Client Issues

Issues with the CNR Client

  1. If the CNR Client is running, right-click on the CNR icon in system tray, then select: Exit

    • Note: If the CNR Client is not running due to an application failure, please review the following:
    1. Open Personal Files on your quick launch menu

    2. Browse using the Up arrow to the "/" (primary computer) directory, then select View > Show Hidden Files
      • Note: If the CNR Client was not intentionally closed in the first Step, navigate to /tmp and delete the files:
        CNR_account_:0.0.fifo and CNR_account_:0.0.lock files

  2. Open File Manager
    1. Browse to /var/lib/cnr/client and delete the file named: packages
    2. Browse to /var/cache/cnr/client/lists and delete the file named: _var_cache_cnr_client_dists_linspire_arch_binary-i386_Packages
  3. Restart CNR

Didn't help -- still getting "CNR initialization failed".

I don't think this is a client-side error... this looks like server-side.

It looks like the cnr-update rewrote my ~/etc/group file, deleting "group ID 100", which led to the failure to initialise. Here's how I fixed it:
